I run two flocks of pedigree Southdowns (and a few Lleyns) on c. 25 Ha in Cambridgeshire.
The Webb Ellis flock is breeding larger modern Southdowns which is aimed at the commercial farmer looking for an easy lambing fast finishing Terminal Sire. The flock was founded in 2008 with three ewes and it has grown to over 60. More recently the Heritage flock of c.20 ewes has been established breeding to smaller traditional lines using older genetics, as they are smaller they are easier to handle and more suitable for the smallholder and vineyards.
Both flocks are part of the Signet Sheepbreeder scheme and the Webb Ellis flock was the first Southdown winner of the EBLEX Most Improved Flock Award.
